Get medical attention immediately!

Emergency First aid measures while waiting for the help to arrive include the following:
1. Remove child from the direct source of the sun or the heat.
2. Bring the child indoors or into the shade immediately.
3. Undress the child.
4. Have the child lie down and elevate the feet slightly.
If the child is conscious, alert or coherent:         Give frequent sips of cool clear liquids.

If the child is vomiting:                                             Turn child on his side to prevent choking.

Prevention Methods includes educating our children about protecting themselves from the dangers of excessive heat exposure.
1. Teach our kids to always drink plenty of liquids before and during any activity in hot sunny weather, even if they are not thirsty.
2. Make sure kids wear light colored, loose clothing in warm weather.
3. Remind kids to look for shaded areas and rest often while outside.
4. Don’t let kids participate in heavy activity outdoors during the hottest hours of the day.
